My dad just found out today that popcorn ceiling’s have asbestos in it and 3 of our bedrooms have this popcorn ceiling, our house was built in 1978 and we’ve been living here forever. I’m 18 now and have had that ceiling in my bedroom ever sence i was born an im scared, i dont wanna sleep upstairs in it now, and i use to chip my ceiling and stick stuff in it to hang things up like a dream catcher and that sort of stuff, should i be worried?

I sleep close to the ceiling of my wall, due to my loft bed. I’m not sure if I’m sleeping close to asbestos, and I frequently hit the wall on accident. It could be nothing, but I’m concerned to know if I’m really placing a dangerous bet with what’s above me or it’s merely nothing dangerous.

How can you tell the differnce without getting it tested?

Someone told me that if the popcorn texture is not hard i.e softer texture that will crumble without wetting then it should not have asbestos.

Can anyone with expertise tell me how I might be able to tell without getting it lab tested.

I have seen some popcorn ceiling and mine looks different, as it is not hard it just like styrafoam

I’m helping my friend dig a huge hole under her porch in a small space where they kept logs in for many years. The house is pretty old. I’m guessing at least 50 years old and my friend and i spend 3 hours there when we work. We’re most likely going to work 2 days a week. Is there a chance that their might be asbestos in that space?
