I am in the process of repainting my walls and I pulled some old dried wallpaper (painted over) that was peeling. Underneath I found black mold on the plaster wall. I live in a house built in 1930 so we have window air & this wall is adjacent to the window air, hence the black mold. I need to know the best way to clean it off.

We live in Wisconsin, where it is very cold from November-March. I realize that condensation is causing the wood on the windowsill to get wet; is this due to the quality of our windows? Is there anything that I can do to stop this (possibly caulking between wood and windows)? Any way to clean the black mold off of the wood? Will sanding the wood and re-staining clean this up?

I rent an appartment that has black mold. I know for a fact it exists, my son replaced a section of a wall in his bedroom and it was covered with black mold. The damage was caused by water leaks from the toilet and tub. The landlord did send one of his workers out to clean it up but all he did was remove the old caulking, wip up water and moisture and apply new caulking around the tub and replace the toilet tank that was leaking. However the mold is still there and the fausets from the tub still leak. The landlord has been inform about the problem but keeps claiming no one has told him. He does not make repairs and if the tenats push the issues the landlord finds a way to evect the tenats or he either raises the rent or threatens to raise the rent. How can he be made to clean up the blasck mold and make repairs without the tenats having to worring about being evected?? I know one option is to move, however I am not in a position to do so at this point in time.
